Hyundai ix35 review
Autospeak is a weird method of communication. Cars brimming with active and passive safety features may be said to project an “aggressive stance”, those with big bums have “athletic haunches” and now Hyundai has added to this luscious lexicon with “fluidic sculpture”.
This flowing phrase is said to describe the ix35, the latest recruit to the growing band of crossover vehicles designed to incorporate many things; in this case, coupé-ish looks, SUV style, MPV practicality and hatchback costs.
Or, to put it in Hyundai words, “chocolate-cake taste with salad calories”.
I approach these vehicles with some concern. They all seem similar, with ugly front ends, slab sides, wheels that look too small but give a good ride or too big and emulate that of a Fifties truck. But they do all have great functionality and are generally thoroughly down to earth.
The Hyundai is no exception on the functionality front but it tries hard to separate itself from its fellow domineering terra tubbies. Its styling includes a “double-edge swage line”, which means its flanks are not too bland and it looks perfectly presentable. It is also lower than its Tucson predecessor.

Chevrolet captiva review

The Captiva four-wheel drive has done good business for Chevrolet, and like the Vauxhall Antara that it is almost identical to, has undergone a fairly extensive facelift that runs to a lot more than a new-look grille and a resculpturing of the front wings and bonnet.
The most far-reaching change lies beneath that bonnet, where a pair of completely re-engineered 2.2 litre turbodiesels with two power outputs claims to deliver much-improved refinement, reduced emissions, stronger performance and better economy. These come with either a six-speed manual or a new six-speed automatic, the less powerful version driving the front wheels alone, while the rest of the range is all-wheel drive. And all versions bar the lower powered model come with seven seats as standard, the key practical difference between this car and the Vauxhall Antara.
Extensively revised suspension, speed-sensitive electrically-assisted steering, improved sound-proofing, an upgraded interior finish, a new electronic parking brake – which allows for more centre console storage – ‘ice-blue’ instrument back-lighting, Bluetooth compatibility and an iPod socket complete the list of key improvements.
The result is certainly a more civilised Captiva, the new diesels quieter and more flexible than before, while the tauter suspension reduces body-roll to turn this SUV into a usefully more wieldy device on curvy roads. There is small penalty in ride comfort for this stiffer suspension, but for the most part it’s comfortable enough. The Captiva is also better to sit in with its upgraded interior décor, and for the most part its cabin is practical too. It provides plenty of storage space and, once you’ve got the knack, relatively easy access to a third row that’s fine for kids on short trips. A shame, though, that you have to remove the parcel shelf to raise or drop these seats and that there’s no electric tailgate, but the rear window opens separately, a handy convenience.
While the entry-level 2.2 VCGDi LS five-seater is quite attractively priced, the substantial climb to the higher powered LT seven-seater plunges the Captiva into territory that leaves it exposed to several superior alternatives, especially if seven seats aren’t a necessity. There’s no question that this is an improved car, but not sufficiently to warrant price increases of several thousand pounds. That’s a pity, because at the right price the Captiva could make quite a strong case for itself.

STYLING

The Captiva was always a good-looking SUV and the latest styling changes keep it sharp, though some may find the gold Chevrolet bow-tie badge on its prow a little tacky.

ferrari ff review

ferrari ff review
How to deliver that essential Ferrari magic to a growing band of customers in parts of the world where driving conditions aren’t as amenable as Beverly Hills or Monaco? The solution is bold, the new FF offering opulent accommodation for four, suitably storming performance from a wonderfully charismatic V12 engine and – for the first time on a Ferrari – power to all four wheels.
Ferrari does 4×4 then, but, as ever, on its own terms. Refusing to compromise on fundamentals like weight distribution has resulted in an elegant and unusual mechanical solution. In the traditional fashion the front/mid-mounted engine drives the rear wheels via a rear-mounted transmission, in this case a seven-speed dual-clutch auto. But it can also send power to the front wheels too with a secondary gearbox mounted directly to the front of the engine.
Complex stuff in theory but easy to understand in practice the first time you really nail the throttle out of a tight bend. At the point where other Ferraris would be losing grip at the rear wheels the FF simply pulls itself straight and lets you deploy every single one of those 651bhp with utter impunity.
The engine’s huge reach – 80 percent of peak torque is there at 1,750rpm, peak horsepower at 8,000rpm – means jaw dropping acceleration is yours to enjoy at every opportunity, the noise the FF makes doing so every bit as dramatic as the wild styling.
Extravagant, luxurious, head-turning in any situation and addictively easy and fun to drive, this is Ferrari at its best and opens up the brand to a new breed of customers without alienating its traditional fans.

Audi a4 review

Audi’s current A4 sits in a competitive area of the market, up against the likes of the BMW 3-series and the Mercedes C Class.
It has to offer something different to its rivals and it’s the new technology that really grabs the attention. And, chief among all that is Audi Drive Select, which allows the driver to control how the car behaves by adjusting the throttle response, the steering and the suspension.
On top of that, you also have the option of adaptive headlights (which swivel to throw light around corners) and Adaptive Cruise Control, which adjusts the car’s speed to keep it a set distance behind a car in front. They’re nothing revolutionary of course, but perhaps more impressive are the optional Side Assist and Lane Assist packages. The first uses sensors to warn the driver if there is anything in the blind spot behind the car, while the second uses a camera at the top of the windscreen to scan the road ahead and warn the driver if the car is about to wander out of its lane.
For all that, though, the most major change about the car is much simpler: it’s bigger. In fact, it now claims the longest wheelbase in its class, giving it one of the largest cabins and the largest boot. There are lots of useful touches in the Avant’s boot, although it’s irritating that so many are only optional.
Underneath the A4′s beautiful skin, Audi’s engineers have also been hard at work on the chassis, which this new car shares with the A5 coupe. Compared to the previous model, the front axle has been moved forward by 154mm and a new steering system installed, all of which is designed to improve the way the car drives.
. Audi predicts that diesels will account for almost 80 per cent of sales, with the common rail 2.0 litre expected to be the top selling individual engine. And, that’s no surprise, as it’s the pick of the engines, with a fine blend of performance and economy.

2012 bmw m6

The 2010 BMW M6 is expected to be released in the year 2010 in massive numbers. When compared with the present model, the new M6 comes with redesigned tail-lights, enlarged headlights, bumpers and new exhaust pipes. The next generation M6 will possibly be powered by the V10 twin turbocharged engine that was used in the previous generation M5 models and even the dual clutch transmission may also be on the cards. At the moment, BMW is not willing to let out any details about the new design styles, but it is quite unlikely that the new BMW M6 will come with the same design styles as that of the current generation BMW 6 series models.
But, it has been discovered that the new vehicle will come with a sharper brink on the body and with extra large headlights on its front fascia. Its engine is expected to produce about 600-700 hp of throughput. The new BMW M6 model will be offered in two different trim levels namely the M6 2-door coupe and the 2-door convertible models.
The M6 coupe model is expected to achieve 11 miles per gallon in the city, and 17 miles per gallon on the highway roads. The coupe variant will be equipped with the 5.0 liter V10 gasoline engine and falls under the category of the subcompact cars. The vehicle will be offered in the rear wheel drive.
The M6 convertibles will also be powered by 5.0 liter gasoline V10 engine, and featured with rear wheel drive, two door and four passenger seating capacity. But, till date transmission looks like the only major concern. So, lets keep our fingers crossed and hope that the next generation M6 models come with a superior transmission and more trim options.

Volkswagen Passat CC

Volkswagen Passat CC

Volkswagen Passat CC

I’m not sure which design brief entered the Volkswagen designers’ minds first, but both the open top tourers : the Volkswagen EOS and the Volkswagen Passat CC, are beautiful cars.
Quite a lot larger, the Passat CC offers more room and more power. Add up all the style, features and performance, and my conclusion is that you get an awful lot of car for your money.
Look out for the Passat CC V6 FSI. This is an AWD model boasting 220 kW of power, and with all paws grabbing at the ground you move exceptionally swiftly. The Passat CC 125 TDI offers the buyer a frugal and punchy diesel option.
Perhaps the only drawback is that the CC will only seat four, however the feature list is stacked with goodies, and the quality of the vehicle is outstanding.
The ingredients are right, and the looks are striking. Like an athlete poised in the blocks ready for the race, is the Volkswagen Passat CC. Every line and every detail creates an attraction on the eye. The Volkswagen Passat CC is a sharp looker, with the smooth lines through the A to B to C pillars forming a sensational backdrop to the angular nose and aggressive headlights.   And the grippy four-wheel-drive chassis sits on 19-inch Sagitta alloys that have an elegant ten leaf spoke arrangement.
Volkswagen backs their products, and therefore offer a very appealing 3 year/unlimited km warranty. Two models are available for the sexy Coupe styled four door. The Volkswagen CC V6 FSI Coupe boasts the very powerful 3.6 litre injected engine. The punchy 220 kW motor has a healthy 350 Nm of torque that is instantaneous in response and capable of propelling the car from a standstill to 100 km/h in a mere 5.6 seconds. A year or two ago, this was considered stock entry requirements to super car territory.
What you may want is a strong performer that is fuel efficient, so perhaps you and I could have a look over the very good Volkswagen Passat CC 125TDI. We will experience the modern engineering behind the Passat CC 125TDI.  This 2.0 litre common rail turbo diesel engine is a very clean burner. A diesel particulate filter and super economy figures running through direct fuel injection and turbo technology make for a refined motor that puts out an inspiring 125 kW of power and which generates 350Nm of torque.  The six-speed automated DSG transmission allows for faultless gear-shifting. This is no fat man at an athletics meet, either. Superb road holding and a smooth ride create a drive that is amongst the best out there.
Slip into suave leather seats and you find the room, and driving position, to be excellent. Build quality is outstanding and comfort sublime. A high output CD sound system and lots of refinements make the cabin of a Volkswagen Passat CC exceptional. The air-conditioning unit is a quiet operator that quickly works to balance the cabin temperature to be pleasant for all people seated inside the cabin. Sat nav technology is up there with the best systems available for in-car orienteering games.
Is it safe?  You bet ya! ANCAP testing gives the Volkswagen Passat CC a score of five, which is the highest available – not surprising when the car comes with ABS, ESP, ten airbags, traction control and all-wheel-drive.
Even the V6 model comes in at under 90-K. There’s not too much out there that can compete with it for exhilarating performance, flair, luxuries and safety for the same price.
The current model series includes:
  • Volkswagen CC V6 FSI
  • Volkswagen Passat CC 125TDI
